Autodesk has changed the licensing conditions in the Education Program and now offers free access to Education Licenses through the Autodesk Academic Resource Center for use in research and teaching. The vast majority of technical universities and colleges in Germany, Europe and worldwide use the offer. Currently, about 22 million students are registered on the platforms worldwide and about 2 million lecturers. Because they are personalized licenses, installation is not allowed in computer pools, labs, and on multiple computers.
User-specific data is queried during the registration process. This is necessary to minimize abuse by unauthorized users. The manufacturer's data protection guidelines always comply with data protection standards (see above). As an alternative, the academic software can be purchased from Autodesk reseller at any time for a fee, but similar data must be disclosed to activate the software.
Students or teachers who want to install Autodesk software on their personal computer can register at the Academic Resource Center with their college email address and download the software.
